The fine print, in plain words
Privacy Policy
In short
Comic Weather has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and SimpleProducts runs no server for it. To show you a forecast, your iPhone sends an approximate location straight to a weather service. Everything else stays on your iPhone.
What the app uses, and where it goes
Your approximate location. Only if you allow it, and only while you are using the app. iOS gives Comic Weather an approximate location, and the app rounds it to about 100 meters. It is used to name your place and fetch its forecast. Background refreshes and widgets reuse the rounded coordinates the app already has; they never read your location. Rather not share it? Search for cities by name instead.
Forecast requests. To fetch a forecast, your iPhone sends a place's rounded coordinates directly to:
- Apple Weather (WeatherKit), the main source. Apple's privacy policy covers that request.
- MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute), only when Apple Weather cannot answer. As MET Norway's terms require, the request names the app and its support email address. It carries nothing about you.
Neither request includes your name, an account or an advertising identifier.
Places and settings. The places you save (name, rounded coordinates, time zone) and your settings (units, skin, narrator, notification choices) are stored on your iPhone, in storage shared only with the app's own widgets.
Notifications. Comic Weather plans its notifications on your iPhone from the forecast it has downloaded and delivers them as local notifications. No push server is involved.
Purchases. You buy Comic Weather on the App Store. Apple processes the payment, and we never see your payment details. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
Crash reports. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers (iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements), Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. Apple's privacy policy covers that sharing, and you can turn it off there.
What we don't do
- No account, sign-in or profile.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting code.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
Keeping and deleting data
Your places and settings stay on your iPhone until you remove them or delete the app. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete. To stop location access, open iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Comic Weather.
Children
Comic Weather is a general-audience app. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
